I will be showing brand new art in ‘The Good Malaysian Woman’, a group exhibition at Black Box, MAP Publika, from 18 – 25 May 2014.
My work will be an interactive portrait of Vivian Lee, the young woman who, along with her partner Alvin Tan, is one half of the couple known as Alvivi. They are famous for blogging about their sex lives, and other things they have put on the Internet. My portrait is based on personal encounters and conversations with Vivian.
Follow me on Tumblr for a glimpse at work in progress.
‘The Good Malaysian Woman’ is jointly organized by Interpr8 art space and AWAM (All Women’s Action Society). The exhibition explores how women’s identities and choices are shaped by the politics of ethnicity and religion in our country today. What does it mean to be a ‘good’ woman in Malaysia?
